At Purelight, we are committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver innovative and efficient lighting solutions. Our Bluetooth Light Management System (BLMS) , designed to seamlessly integrate with our high-performance LED fixtures, offers unparalleled flexibility and control. By incorporating advanced sensor coverage, daylight harvesting techniques, and continuous customer interaction, we can create tailored lighting environments that promote energy savings and enhance workplace efficiency.

Introduction to Bluetooth Light management (BLMS)

The purpose of a light management system (LMS) is to provide enhanced control over the lighting environment, offering benefits such as energy efficiency, convenience, and improved user experience. By integrating smart technology and sensors, an LMS can automatically adjust lighting based on occupancy, daylight availability, and user preferences. This not only reduces energy consumption but also extends the lifespan of lighting fixtures. Additionally, an LMS can be customized to create various lighting scenes and ambiances, ensuring optimal illumination for different activities and settings. The benefit of Bluetooth LMS is in the fact that it is a wireless mesh network meaning flexibility and ease of installation and full customisation to customer preference. Bluetooth mesh offers significant benefits. It allows for seamless integration of multiple lighting fixtures, sensors, and controllers, ensuring synchronized operations and consistent lighting environments. The scalability of Bluetooth mesh means that it can easily accommodate the addition of new devices without affecting the overall network performance.

Functionality of a BLMS

There are 2 main functions of BLMS, energy saving and light level control.

Energy saving:

Energy saving in a Bluetooth Light Management System (BLMS) works by using smart technology and sensors to make sure lights are only on when they need to be. For example, sensors can detect when a room is empty and automatically turn off the lights, saving electricity. They can also adjust the brightness of the lights based on how much natural sunlight is coming into the room. This way, you use less energy during the day. By combining these smart features, a BLMS helps reduce overall energy consumption.

Light Level Control:

Light level control in a Bluetooth Light Management System ensures that the brightness of the lights is maintained at a safe level depending on the type of work being conducted in those areas. This BLMS will also automatically adjust the intensity of the lights based on the amount of natural light available or according to specific user settings.

Requirements for an optimised BLMS

  • sensors coverage
  • Daylight harvesting
  • Customer input
  • Onsite observation
  • Continuous improvement

Sensor coverage

Sensor coverage is a crucial aspect of any effective Bluetooth Light Management System (BLMS). It refers to the strategic placement and distribution of sensors throughout a given area to ensure optimal monitoring of light levels, occupancy, and other environmental factors. Proper sensor coverage ensures that the system can accurately detect changes in natural light, the presence of individuals, and other variables that influence lighting needs.

Daylight harvesting

Daylight harvesting is a vital aspect of modern lighting management systems, including Bluetooth Light Management Systems (BLMS). This technique involves the use of sensors to monitor the levels of natural light within a specific space and dynamically adjust the artificial lighting to maintain optimal illumination levels. The goal is to maximize the use of available daylight, thereby reducing energy consumption and enhancing comfort.

Customer input

Customer input is an essential component in the optimization of a Bluetooth Light Management System (BLMS). Engaging customers in the design and implementation process ensures that the system meets their specific needs and preferences. By incorporating feedback from users, the system can be tailored to address unique lighting requirements and operational challenges. This collaborative approach not only enhances user satisfaction but also drives innovation and continuous improvement within the BLMS framework. Customers can provide valuable insights on the effectiveness of sensor placement, the accuracy of daylight harvesting, and overall system performance, leading to a more responsive and user-centric lighting solution.

Continuous improvement

Continuous improvement is a fundamental principle in the development and maintenance of Bluetooth Light Management Systems (BLMS). This concept involves regularly evaluating and refining the system to enhance its performance, efficiency, and user satisfaction and making changes where necessary.
